Karnataka: Speculations are rife that Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar might switch parties. However, he has denied these rumors. He shocked many by revealing that BJP leaders are in touch with him. He also stated that BJP leaders are attempting to join the Congress. In an interview, he said, "Let BJP first fix its own house. Several of their MLAs are trying to get in touch with Congress leaders."
On the party switch, DK responded, stating that there is no need for any discussions on the matter. He mentioned that even the party ministers have confirmed this, adding that no discussions are necessary. Recently, there were criticisms regarding the meeting between Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. DK responded to these comments, clarifying that the event was not political but spiritual. He mentioned that he attended the event because Sadhguru invited him and reminded everyone that Sadhguru is also fighting for the Cauvery waters.
This became a cause of concern within the Congress ranks. During Maha Shivaratri, the Isha Foundation organized a special program in Coimbatore, where both Amit Shah and DK participated. Following this, rumors spread that DK was getting closer to the BJP, which caused unrest within Congress. BJP leader and Opposition Leader R. Ashoka compared DK Shivakumar to Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. However, Congress State President Vijayendra dismissed the reports that DK would switch parties. In this context, DK himself clarified the rumors.
