A Unique Premise with Familiar Touches 

Sakamoto Days Review immediately presents its lead character as someone who has moved on from his violent past. Instead of dwelling on his assassin career, the show jumps right into his family life. Taro Sakamoto now runs a convenience store with his wife Aoi and daughter Hana, leading a peaceful, happy existence. Despite this calm exterior, his former assassin life keeps creeping back in, especially with the introduction of Shin, a psychic assassin who becomes both a partner in crime and a comedic element in the series. 

This mix of domestic bliss and danger creates a fun dynamic, bringing both humor and drama into the mix. The anime’s first episode does a solid job of introducing the main characters and setting the stage, but the pacing can feel a little slow for those eager for more action. This slower buildup allows for world-building but might feel sluggish for viewers unfamiliar with the source material.
