Shilpi Soni, ISRO Scientist, Handles PM Modi’s Social Media Accounts on International Women’s Day 2025

On International Women's Day 2025, ISRO scientist Shilpi Soni took over the social media accounts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shilpi has played a pivotal role in over 35 missions throughout her career, spanning organizations from DRDO to ISRO.

On this special occasion, PM Modi gave the opportunity to inspiring women across the country to manage his social media accounts. This year, the responsibility was given to Shilpi Soni, a renowned space scientist.

Shilpi Soni hails from a humble background in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh. Despite coming from a simple family, her family had a strong connection to education and innovation. This passion for knowledge propelled Shilpi to the pinnacle of success in the field of science.

She began her career with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) before moving on to play a key role in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Over the past 24 years, Shilpi has contributed to the design, development, and innovation of cutting-edge RF and microwave subsystem technologies in more than 35 communication and navigation missions at ISRO.

Under her leadership, ISRO recently indigenously developed the complex and advanced Space Traveling Wave Tube technology, a feat that only a few countries possessed until now. This achievement is considered a significant step toward self-reliance in space technology for India. Shilpi Soni currently serves as the Associate Project Director for the GSAT-22/23 communication payload. She was also a part of the ISRO delegation for the GSAT launch in French Guiana, Kourou, and described watching the spacecraft successfully launch as an unforgettable experience.

Shilpi Soni, along with nuclear scientist Elina Mishra, conveyed a special message through the Prime Minister’s social media accounts on women empowerment and the participation of women in the field of science. They highlighted the excitement and satisfaction of the science and technology world, stating that it is difficult to express the joy that comes when systems they develop work successfully.
